Replacing Turn Signals

Exterior bulbs installed in your vehicle play an important role on your safety especially when driving at night. Many drivers fail to check or replace them until they receive a traffic violation ticket from the authority. Turn signals are one of the easiest devices in your vehicle to repair and troubleshoot. Fixing your car's signals will only take a few minutes to do. You can follow these simple steps on how to replace your car's turn signals properly:

1. Look for the faulty bulb of your car then begin unscrewing the housing around the light. The bulbs are usually hidden underneath a colored lens for all yellow, red and white lights.

2. Get rid of the lens by using Phillips-head screws. Afterwards, remove the entire bulb housing from the hole. The housing will not be pullout very far since all wires are attached there. Be careful when pulling it. Bear in mind that most housing assemblies in cars will come out in one whole piece.

3. Locate the plug that holds the bulb. Carefully follow the wires coming out of the light assembly to the back of your faulty light. This will be the bulb holder that you must remove and unscrew.

4. Have a quarter turn to release the bulb from the housing and pull it. The most common type of bulb will pull straight out from the plug. After locating the dead bulb, remove it and replace it with a new one.

5. Reverse the steps of reassembling the components in the same order as you disassembled them. Once all the parts are returned to their original position, turn on your car and check if they are functioning perfectly.
